Autex Acoustics® SpinFix™ introduces a revolutionary approach to product lifecycle management

Autex Acoustics’ SpinFix is at the forefront of end-of-life solutions for acoustic products, reducing their environmental impact.

Committed to continuous innovation and exploring new materials and processes, Autex Acoustics has utilized its cutting-edge pelletizing process to develop SpinFix, a RePET mounting clip for acoustic panels. This innovative approach transforms ‘waste’ PET from manufacturing leftovers into RePET, which is then used to create product accessories like SpinFix. By repurposing offcuts into RePET, SpinFix eliminates the need for adhesives during installation.

Sam Wells, the lead in product development, is excited about the progress made with SpinFix and the achievements in circularity. “Improving the end-of-life journey for our materials was top of mind when designing SpinFix, providing us with another avenue to explore applications of our RePET processes and giving acoustic panels yet another life. Our friction welding technology binds the 100% PET clips to the panels without the use of glue. This means everything remains 100% polyester and can be recycled again at the end of life. Without compromising the performance or usability of the original product, we’ve ended up with an extremely versatile technology, which we will explore and develop even further in future.”

Autex Acoustics takes a holistic approach to product lifecycles, including their end-of-life phase, by focusing on materials with a lower environmental impact and seeking sustainable design and manufacturing methods. SpinFix is specifically designed for easy disassembly, making it simple to repurpose panels or reclaim and recycle through the Takeback Program, thanks to the elimination of contamination associated with installation. This Takeback Program is currently implemented in the New Zealand market with the aim of expanding into the United States when functionally realistic.
